Everything went great. We’ve worked with Steve on 3 different projects...I have nothing but great things to think and say about him...throughout the project, he’s not only available, but he’s visible...and if something goes amok he makes it right. We would use him again.

Q. How long will my remodel take?

A. This is an important question, and it’s one we’ll discuss together during the proposal phase, because there are a lot of factors that influence the timing of your remodel. Once a design is finalized, a major kitchen remodel may take approximately 8-10 weeks, but the preliminary design and planning stage can take anywhere from three weeks to several months.

Generally, the timeline is driven by you—based on your timeframe and your selections.  However, it’s best if you don’t plan around a definite deadline–for example, crunching a job to finish just before a holiday party is not realistic.

Note: We can save some time by starting remodeling before the final design is fine-tuned. For example, we don’t need the tile designed up front as long as the overall plan for the tiled area is set. We also work with experienced designers who guide you efficiently through the design process. They know how long things take, and what decisions need to be made by when.

Q. When is the best time to do a remodel?

A. When you’re ready, but we emphasize that taking the time to do careful planning is very helpful! We work year round, even digging holes in the ground in winter.

Q. What if I don’t have time to make all kinds of decisions?

A. Details matter–so throughout your process of selections and choices, our designer walks you through based on the level of involvement you want. Some people like to go to a showroom to choose their own paint, other people don’t have time or patience to browse, so we can bring the selections to you. Overall, we work to minimize the amount of time it takes to make selections by learning more about your preferences up front.  We're used to working with busy professionals, so we know how to make the selection process go smoothly.

Q. How much is this going to cost?

A. We can give you general, ballparked costs at the first appointment. We follow up with a bid based on quantifiable list—and we factor in allowances for decisions that need to be made later in the process—because there are variables in the finishes, etc. that will affect the final cost.

Steve says: “My philosophy is this: When you hire me to do your remodel, you’re hiring me to spend your money responsibly to achieve your goals. To do so successfully, we have to be a team.  So I’m an advocate for you–directing my team to complete your project.”

Q. What about remodeling with kids and/or pets?

A. This is very do-able! Please see our remodeling tips to learn how to minimize the disruption for everyone in your household.
